November 2023 Update:
We have moved from the planning process into the final design phase for the Carnegie Station Park and Ride Expansion Project. The centerpiece of the project is a new 5-level parking garage that will more than double the number parking spaces in the current surface lot. The reconstructed site will have a separate drop-off area that includes dedicated space for paratransit vans. The project also includes larger and improved operator facilities to enhance the efficiency of PRT operations.
We are developing the project so it will allow for future access improvements and transit-oriented development that were identified in the prior planning process.
We recently completed a planning process for Carnegie Station and Park and Ride that explored alternative configurations of the site. Input was gathered from the community on a project that would add parking to the Carnegie Park and Ride, as well as identified opportunities for future station access improvements and transit-oriented development that would enhance Downtown Carnegie.

Project Plan
The 2010 West Busway Transit-Oriented Development Assessment and Plan called for a new parking garage at Carnegie Station. Additional recommendations included first level retail space, upper floor space for offices for educational and cultural institutions, and new residential units along Logan Street.
We have secured Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program (CMAQ) funding to help pay for construction of a new parking garage to expand the park and ride at Carnegie Station, providing an additional 200 parking spaces for this high-demand location.
While the CMAQ funding may not cover the cost of construction of the additional recommendations provided in the 2010 assessment, this project presents an opportunity for Port Authority to partner with a developer to do transit-oriented developement on a portion of the site in addition to building the parking garage.
Ultimately, building the garage allows for the opportunity to reconfigure the site to better connect both the parking garage and Carnegie Station to Downtown Carnegie.
