The Hiring Process
Whether you have already applied for a maintenance position, or are considering applying, it helps to know what comes next.
Applying for the Position
All available positions are posted on our Careers website. Please remember to include your phone number on your resume. Applicants who meet the job requirements are called in the order their resume is received, and scheduled for testing (if required).
Whether or not you need to go through testing depends on the specific job. For example, if you applied to be a mechanic you will do a tools test.
The Employment representative will let you know what type of testing may be required.
Upon completion of successful testing, you will participate in a competency-based interview.
Offer of Employment
Following the interview, background checks are completed. If you are then chosen for the position, a conditional offer of employment is extended and you will be scheduled for a pre-employment medical/drug screen and a commercial drivers license (CDL) permit if required for the position.
Maintenance employees receive 24 days of job-specific training.
You will be provided with a training schedule on the second day of orientation. If a CDL is required for your position, it will be included as part of the training process.
After training, you will begin as a probationary employee for the first 90 working days of employment with Port Authority.
We value all of our employees and provide high-quality benefits, including:
• A pay progression policy
• Generous vacation, holidays and sick days
