Meet Kate, Professional Services Contract Specialist

When did you start working at PRT?

I began working at PRT in May of 2016. I will have been here five years in May.

What do you do in your current role?

A Professional Services Contract Specialist manages all aspects of a Request for Proposal (RFP), from writing the RFP documents and soliciting for proposals to negotiating the agreement and awarding a contract. This process can take anywhere from three to nine months. Once a contract is in place, we handle all the management of the contract through to close out when the agreement is completed.

What is one thing about your job that people would find most interesting?

I believe one of the most interesting things about my job is that we work with just about every department at PRT. For this reason, while our process may be similar every time, each RFP is very different. Additionally, you get to work with a wider group of people and I find that to be the best part.

What do you like most about working in the public transportation industry?

I love watching the work I do make a difference within my community. Working within the public transportation industry, I get to see the contracts I’ve been a part of in action, helping the community and making their daily commutes or transit experiences better.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I am a mom of two, so spending time with them is always top of the list. Apart from that, I enjoy working in my garden or finding new projects to work on in my house.

What is the one thing that is guaranteed to make you smile?

A little time to curl up on the couch with a good book and a cup of tea.
