Winter Weather Event

Pittsburgh Regional Transit is preparing for the pending winter storm expected to impact the region this weekend.
PRT will initiate a full call-out of operational and maintenance resources beginning Saturday evening. With snow expected to begin early Sunday morning, crews will be actively salting and plowing PRT property throughout the day to keep facilities, stations, and rights-of-way as clear as possible.
To support light-rail operations, PRT will run rail cars without passengers to clear tracks ahead of revenue service and will install sleet cutters on rail vehicles to remove snow and ice buildup from overhead power lines.
Bus service will continue where road conditions allow. However, buses are only as reliable as the roads they travel. Detours will be implemented one trip at a time based on conditions. If buses are unable to safely access certain streets, they will remain on main roads. Hilly routes may experience delays or temporary service changes until roads are plowed or treated.
As a general rule, if a personal vehicle cannot safely reach a street, it is unlikely a bus will be able to do so.
PRT encourages riders to use TrueTime to track buses in real time and view service alerts and detours, helping minimize time spent waiting outdoors. Service updates will also be shared via @pghtransitalerts on X (formerly Twitter).
Riders are advised that if travel is not essential during periods of heavy snowfall, staying home is the safest option. Patience is also appreciated as crews work to respond to changing conditions throughout the storm.

ACCESS Paratransit Service

All ACCESS paratransit service will be canceled on Sunday. Riders with trips scheduled for Sunday will receive a phone call notifying them of any cancellations.
On Monday, ACCESS will make every effort to operate morning service; however, riders and medical providers have been advised to expect delays, particularly during the morning hours.
