Port Authority bus service will be extensively detoured the weekend of April 29 through May 1 for the 2022 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon and related events. We recommend that customers allow for extra travel time.

Detours will begin about noon on Friday, April 29, with various road closures impacting service through about 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 1.

For questions or updates on race day, customers are encouraged to call Customer Service at 412-442-2000.

Important Service Information

In previous years, Port Authority has provided extra service to assist runners and spectators traveling to the marathon start line and to connect to detoured buses. Due to current staffing and hiring challenges, unfortunately this extra service cannot be guaranteed.

We encourage riders traveling to the marathon and related events prior to the start of regularly scheduled Sunday service to consider alternate transportation if necessary and to allow for additional travel time.

Red Line Detour

Riders are reminded that due to the closure of the Saw Mill Run Boulevard Bridge, Red Line rail cars are traveling over the Blue Line. Port Authority is operating a rail shuttle between Overbrook Junction and Potomac Station and a bus shuttle between Potomac Station and Station Square free of charge. Please allow for additional travel time.

Please note: Due to marathon-related road closures, on Sunday, May 1, from the start of service until about 1 p.m., the Red Line bus shuttle will not be able to serve Station Square. Red Line bus shuttle service will instead operate between South Hills Junction and Potomac Station. More information is provided in the Sunday service section below.
