On Saturday, November 6 and Sunday, November 7 from the start of service until about 10pm each night, regular Red Line Service will be suspended between South Hills Junction and Overbrook Junction while crews perform maintenance work between Potomac Station and Dormont Junction.

Rail and bus shuttles will be provided so that stops along the Red Line can continue to be served during the work. Also during this time, Red Line rail cars will detour over the Blue/Silver Line from South Hills Junction to Willow Station.

Red Line Detour at-a-Glance 

 Regular Red Line rail service will be suspended between South Hills Junction and Overbrook Junction.  

- Temporary rail and bus shuttles will be provided to ensure all Red Line stops and stations are served. 

- Rail shuttles will operate from South Hills Junction to Potomac Station, and again from Dormont Junction to Overbrook Junction. 

- Bus shuttles will operate between Potomac Station and Dormont Junction (where the maintenance work is occurring). 

 Red Line rail service will detour over the Blue/Silver Line between South Hills Junction and Willow Station before resuming regular route. 

 Red Line service between Allegheny Station and South Hills Junction, and between St. Anne’s and South Hills Village will not be affected.  

 Blue and Silver Line service will not be affected.

What is the best way to get to my stop? 

 Red Line riders heading to Mt. Lebanon or Dormont can take Blue, Silver or Red Line service to Willow Station, walk to Overbrook Junction, and transfer to a rail shuttle to complete your journey (see below for additional details on the rail shuttle). 

 Red Line riders heading to Beechview can take Blue, Silver or Red Line service to South Hills Junction and transfer to the rail shuttle to Potomac Station (see below for additional details on the rail shuttle).

Rail and Bus Shuttles  South Hills Junction to Overbrook Junction 

Bus and rail shuttle service will operate approximately every 15-20 minutes.  

From South Hills Junction to Potomac Station: 

Rail shuttles will operate between South Hills Junction and Potomac Station. 

• At South Hills Junction, rail shuttles to Potomac Station will use the outbound platform only. Riders boarding regular Blue, Silver or detoured Red Line service will use the inbound and outbound platforms to board. 

• At Potomac and Stevenson, rail shuttles will use the inbound platform only.The outbound platforms will be out of service.

• At Palm Garden, Dawn, Westfield, Fallowfield, Hampshire, Belasco and Shiras, riders will use the inbound and outbound platforms to board rail shuttles.

  

From Potomac Station to Dormont Junction: 

Bus shuttles will operate between Potomac Station and Dormont Junction (the area where the maintenance work is occurring) to connect riders to rail shuttles. 

• At Potomac Station, board bus shuttles on Belrose Avenue at Potomac Avenue (the striped area near Potomac Station). 

• At Dormont Junction, board bus shuttles on Raleigh Avenue behind the station (near the bus shelter).

  

From Dormont Junction to Overbrook Junction: 

Rail shuttles will operate between Dormont Junction and Overbrook Junction. 

• At Dormont Junction, Mt. Lebanon and Overbrook Junction, board all rail shuttles on the outbound platform. The inbound platforms will be out of service.  

• At Castle Shannon, Arlington, and Poplar, riders will use the inbound and outbound platforms to board rail shuttles.

• Riders at Overbrook Junction can take the walkway to Willow Station to transfer to a Blue, Silver, or detoured Red Line rail car to their destination.
