The Downtown-Uptown-Oakland BRT will be named The University Line. This new line is the first under a new level of service called PRTX.
PRTX is the future of high quality, on-street bus rapid transit. Communities with PRTX service can expect high frequency service thanks to transit-only travel lanes, new shelters with amenities like real-time arrival screens, and improved reliability and on-time performance.
The University Line will operate in dedicated bus-only lanes in downtown Pittsburgh, Uptown, and Oakland. This project is expected to improve transit amenities, foster more reliable service, and create development opportunities.
